Q: How long is the course?
A: The course is delivered in nine, half-hour modules. There are seventeen timed reading exercises to experiment with and some modules may take a little longer, depending on how much time you devote to them. We suggest you do the course in your own time and at your own pace. We don't suggest you do it all in one sitting as you need time to use the concepts for a while in the real world before returning to the course to learn more.

Q: When is the course available?
A: The course is available online 24/7. Once you register, you have freedom to sign on and learn anytime of day or night!
(back to FAQ)Q: Can I leave the course in the middle of a module?
A: Yes, you can leave the course in the middle of a module and when you return you will be able to locate where you left off. Every topic in the course is programmed to let you know whether you didn't view a segment (indicated in red), viewed it (indicated in yellow), or completed it (indicated in green). You can resume anywhere you want though we suggest you continue from where you were at your last visit. You are encouraged to go back to those topics and exercises you liked and want more practice with.

A: The book 10 Days to Faster Reading has been made into an eBook especially for this course. It is available to you once you register for the course and have begun the Module One. It is located as an Adobe PDF on the top left of the user interface. You can print it if you like (122 pages) and/or keep it open, minimized in your taskbar, for reading on-screen during the course.

A: If you already own a print version of 10 Days to Faster Reading, you can use it; however, the page references in the online course correspond to the pages of the eBook, not the print version. If you get stuck, you can email the instructor for page clarification.

A: Definitely NOT! This course has been technologically designed as a sophisticated, highly interactive and user-friendly course that incorporates a lot of Flash programming and animations. There are many animated sections that physically demonstrate the strategies being taught. It has been designed on storyboards, not power point screens.

A: The course was created, developed and taught by speed reading expert Abby Marks Beale. Abby has taught speed reading to busy people in Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, government agencies, associations and schools for over 20 years. She is the author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Speed Reading, 10 Days to Faster Reading and a college level study skills text book Success Skills: Strategies for Study and Lifelong Learning 3e. She is also content editor of Read More, Faster. . . On-Screen written by Pam Mullan.
(back to FAQ)Q: What if I don’t want to listen to the narration?
A: Abby narrates the entire course though the transcript of the narration is available to read on-screen instead. You can mute the audio to read the narration.
Q: How do I track my progress?
A: The course is designed for you to track your progress in two ways: 1) statistically through timed reading exercises and tracking your words per minute and comprehension and 2) habitually through a self-evaluation of habits. The course is meant for you to achieve your personal best based on where you started. We strongly suggest that you not compare yourself to anyone but yourself.

Q: Can people with reading disabilities take this course?
A: We believe anyone who knows how to read can benefit from the strategies presented in this course. We are not remedial reading specialists, rather developmental reading specialists, so we do not guarantee success with every type of reader. However, we have shared this content with people with mild dyslexia and other undiagnosed reading disabilities and most find they improve. If you decide to take the course and find it doesn’t work for you, you can contact us for a refund.

A: Once you complete the nine modules, we ask that you take a few minutes to complete the course survey to help us know what went well for you and what we need to improve upon. Then, we will send you one short email a week for just 8 weeks that will remind you about an important aspect of the course. Since repetition over time is the key to learning, this follow up communication can help you solidify the concepts you learned.

Q: How long do I have to complete the course?
A: All users have 90 days from the date of purchase to complete the course. After 90 days, you no longer have access to the course. If you need more time, you will be offered a reduced renewal rate for an additional 90 day timeframe. If you know you will need more time and haven’t heard from us yet, please contact us.
